Utah is leading the way as the first state to adopt the PA Licensure Compact! S.B.35, signed into law by Governor Spencer Cox on March 14, addresses professional licensing issues across several industries and professions and, most notably, includes the PA Licensure Compact.

Following a lengthy floor debate, the Colorado State Senate passed Senate Bill 23-083 on March 8 by a vote of 26-8.

On March 7, the Iowa House of Representatives passed HF 424 by a vote of 90 to 8. The legislation would remove mandates for written agreements between PAs and a specific physician.

After more than three years of working with the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), and the Council of State Governments (CSG) as well as numerous PA regulators and CO leaders, AAPA is excited to announce the release of the PA Licensure Compact model legislation.

Following sweeping passage through the Colorado House Health and Insurance Committee on February 23, HB22-1095, Colorado Academy of PAs’ (CAPA) Optimal Team Practice (OTP) legislation, failed to pass the full House on March 15.

After three and a half hours of testimony, the Colorado Academy of PAs’ priority legislation, HB22-1095, passed the Colorado House Health and Insurance Committee and now goes to a full House vote, scheduled for March 4.
