The PA Insights Network is an exclusive community where you, as a PA or PA student, can have your opinions heard on a variety of topics. Many activities will also offer compensation for your feedback and time.  It is managed and sponsored by AAPA.

As a PA, your insight helps influence healthcare and the environment that revolves around your daily work life. As a PA Student, your insight influences PA education as well as our understanding of the future of the profession. Along with financial incentives, participation gives you a voice in shaping patient care, clinical practice, and education. Together, you are ensuring that the PA and PA student perspectives are represented.

Based on the ask and type of activity (length of activity, what we are asking you to do, type of activity; whether it be quantitative or qualitative in nature, and the research sponsor), you may receive monetary compensation. If monetary compensation is to be given, the amount and type of compensation will be specified at the start of the activity. Please note that not all activities offer compensation.

The activity invitation will detail the date that compensation will be distributed, if applicable. Compensation is typically provided 15–30 days after the activity is officially closed.

Once you complete the PA Insights Network interest form, we’ll send you an email with an invitation to complete a welcome survey. In that activity, we ask about your preferences related to research topics and how often you want to be contacted each month. If you have yet to complete that survey, you can find it under “Activities” in the Member Hub. We try to adhere to your preferences; however, we may occasionally offer additional opportunities to you.

It depends on the preferences you provided to us when registering. Some participants receive multiple invitations a month, while others may hear from us less frequently. You’re always free to accept or decline any opportunity.

The activities we will be sending out to members will vary in length, from short 5-minute engagements to longer in-depth interviews that may take 35-40 minutes of your time. We have focus group opportunities that last 60 minutes or more. At the beginning of every activity, you will be told how much time it will take to complete. You can choose to set the activity aside until you have time or decline to take the activity.  Every engagement is up to you to decide if you want to participate in it.

There are four different types of research activities that can be conducted on the PA Insights Network.

Market research, such as reviewing materials and providing feedback on them to pharma companies. Market research is conducted by market research partners.

Sponsored research, such as sharing your patient care experiences on clinical topics. Sponsored research is conducted by AAPA and is sponsored by outside organizations.

AAPA research, such as providing insights into AAPA products and services so we can better meet the needs of PAs and PA students.

Academic research, such as completing surveys and interviews with academic researchers who are gathering information for their degree and the results of which will go into peer-reviewed literature.

All data, unless explicitly indicated, is confidential but not anonymous. Having confidentiality versus anonymity means that we can ask you fewer questions and ensure that you receive your rewards in a timely manner. A limited number of individuals administer the community platform. Unless you provide specific permission to share your personal identifying information, data is anonymized when it is sent to partners. Depending on the project, how your data is handled will vary.

Market research data is stored within the secure survey platform as well as secure servers hosted by AAPA’s partner, Sago Health

Sponsored research and AAPA research are stored within the secure survey platform as well as secure servers hosted by AAPA.

Academic research frequently involves surveys and focus groups managed and hosted by researchers. When this happens, if you choose to participate, you are anonymously rerouted to their survey. Your data is then stored by the research on their secure server.
