Calling all fellow and student AAPA members! AAPA seeks candidates willing to offer their time and talents to help advance the profession and enhance patient health. To effect change and help lead the PA profession, AAPA needs leaders who are strategic, innovative, and passionate about the profession and the patients they serve.

During the election process, candidates will be able to articulate their skills and competencies as leaders and define their vision for the organization. AAPA’s membership will elect leaders based on their collective view for the future.

Board of Directors General Election

Open positions in the 2026 Board of Directors General Election include President-elect, Secretary-Treasurer, and two Director-at-Large seats. The application window is now closed.

House of Delegates Officers Election

Open positions in the 2026 House Officers Election include AAPA Vice President/Speaker of the House, First Vice Speaker/Director, and Second Vice Speaker/Director. The application window is now closed.

Student Academy Board of Directors Candidates

Open positions in the 2026 Student Board of Directors election include President-elect, Student Chief Delegate, and eight Directors. The application window is now closed.

Nominating Committee

There are three open positions in the 2026 Nominating Committee election. The application window is now closed.

2026 AAPA Elections Timeline

Below are deadlines and important dates for the Board of Directors (BOD) General Election, the House of Delegates (HOD) Elections, including the House Officers and the Nominating Committee (NomCom), and the Student Academy (SA) Election.

January 23	Any current BOD member planning to run for an alternate position mid-term (which per APAA Bylaws would require them to resign their current position effective June 30) must pre-declare their candidacy to run for the alternative office to the Senior Director, Governance. This is to ensure any resulting 2026-2027 vacancy may be published as an open position for potential candidates.
January 30	BOD General Election and House Officer candidate application forms open.
February 20	Deadline to file initial BOD General and House Officer candidate applications.
February 9-March 13	NomCom evaluates BOD General and House Officer candidates and selects endorsed slate of candidates.
March 2	Candidate applications open for Student Academy and NomCom Elections.
March 16-March 25	Non-endorsed candidates decide whether to run self-declared.
March 25	Deadline to file NomCom and Student Academy candidate applications. Deadline for BOD General and House Officer candidates to submit official declaration forms with materials that will be included on candidate web pages.
April 16	BOD General, House Officer, NomCom, and Student Academy candidate webpages launched. All election candidates announced to members via email.
April/May TBD	Virtual Student Academy Meet the Candidates Forum to be held.
May 1-3	Date eligible voters in HOD elections (House Officers and NomCom) must be current fellow/student members. (Actual date depends upon HOD agenda).
May 3	Date eligible voters in BOD and Student Academy elections must be current fellow or student members.
May 15-17	Meet the Candidates Forum for House Officers and NomCom candidates held at the HOD. (Date and time dependent upon HOD agenda).
May 15-17	House Officer and NomCom Elections is held at the House of Delegates Meeting. (Date and time dependent upon HOD agenda).
May 18	Meet the Candidates Forum for BOD General Elections held at AAPA 2026 from 10:45 a.m. – 12 p.m. This event will be recorded and posted on the AAPA website.
May 18	Voting opens for the BOD General and Student Academy Elections.
June 1	Voting closes for the BOD General and Student Academy Elections.
June 2	Results announced for the BOD General and Student Academy Elections.
July 1	The 2026-2027 Leadership Year begins.
July 16-18	AAPA Board of Directors Meeting (in-person in Alexandria, Va.)
